How did I meet him?
I met Green Bird in 2012 when I was student teaching in 4th grade at ICIS. He was a present from a friend. I brought him to school and everyone instantly loved him! The class I was student teaching in decided to name him Marco. However, this name did not stick. Students who did not know who Marco was simply called him Green Bird or GB. Feel free to call him whatever you'd like. He does respond to Green Bird the best though!
He has been by my side through all of the different classrooms I've taught in. He loves to dress up, travel and even play some pranks. He can't wait to make new friends this year in third grade! This year Green Bird will have a chance to take some pretty big trips. Can you keep up with Green Bird?

What is he from? His REAL name is Hooey. He is from a Dr. Seuss book called "Oh Say Can You Say". It is a fun book about tongue twisters! The reason Green Bird looks so depressed is due to the fact he really struggles with tongue twisters!
Green Bird came alive in stuffed animal form and was used as a classroom management tool to keep student on task and encourage them to stay engaged in the classroom. Students who worked hard would get a visit from Green Bird. In 2018, Green Bird flew the classroom with Miss King but still is housed in ICIS where he meets many new faces. He will still travel and find new and innovative ways to share the wonders of the world with his past and future students. |
